In KIN 856 we focused on the physical aspects of athletics. In doing so, we gained an awareness of the major bones and muscle groups within the body and the the physical abilities and limitations of them. We also discussed the roles we play as coaches regarding the physical abilities and safety of our athletes. Other units included nutrition, strength and conditioning, and sport medicine. Psychosocial Aspects of Coaching - Dr. Marty Ewing
In this course we studied the psychological and social aspects of sports and coaching. In doing so, we analyzed how athletes learn, how they are motivated, and how they think in performance situations. In learning this, we can better teach activities, determine how best to motivate and inspire athlete performance, and to create an athlete that does not think as much on the field, rather they react to situations. This course serves as the capstone of the MAED program at MSU. It requires students to reflect upon the journey they have taken while obtaining their Master's degree. Students also look in to their future as educators and learners.
